Communities vs. Routes

Valet Hero is one platform with two service modules. Which ones your account has turned on decides what appears in your sidebar — this is the single most common source of confusion when comparing notes with someone at another company.

Communities

For doorstep valet trash at apartment complexes and managed properties. You service a community, which contains units. Work is organised by property and service night.

Unlocks: Communities, Units, Clock-In/Outs, Shift Reports, the resident portal, and the property manager portal.

Routes

For curbside and commercial pickup, where you drive a list of addresses rather than walk a property. You service a stop, and stops are grouped into a route that an agent runs on a given day.

Having both

Accounts can run both modules at once. The sidebar then shows Communities and Routes, and your schedule can contain both community shifts and route assignments in the same week.

Throughout this guide, pages that only exist for one module are labelled at the top. If a page is labelled with a module you do not have, you can skip it.
